Child Care Centres use significant amounts of water each day, but what amenities use the most water and where can you find them? This free activity resource will take your children on a water audit scavenger hunt, searching for water using devices throughout your centre and looking for leaks, drips and efficiency.
Summer is here which means hot summer days and smart water play. Childcare Centres play an important role in water conservation on the Central Coast. This is done by modelling Waterwise behaviours and providing water education to children. The Central Coast Council would like to assist in your effort by providing Water Education Packs to your centre. The pack includes four water books, smart water magnets and stickers, shower times for staff, a water scavenger hunt, and more.
Introducing Walter Smart and Friends Performances and Workshops
Central Coast Council Water and Sewer is offering schools a unique incursion that raises awareness of water efficiency, improves water literacy and influences responsible water behaviour.
Devised with the Water Conservancy to engage the full school cohort, the incursion compliments key aims of the K–6 NESA syllabus for both Science and Technology and HSIE Geography. It is also a great stimulus for literacy work and links perfectly with the emphasis on sustainability as a priority for study across all learning areas and subjects.
Walter Smart and Friends is a fun educational pantomime style performance and an interactive follow-on workshop. It includes original music and songs, comedy, and multimedia to captivate primary students and reinforce key water efficiency messages.
“Very good, educational & entertaining for the kids. It all had an impact, particularly the comedy! Also loved getting the kids involved.” - Teacher Orana Heights Public School
